Wunderbar!

The (almost) “End of Class Year Picnic” was held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010 in the Gazebo, Biergarten area, where a typical German feast was enjoyed by all. Students invited their family and friends to join in and a great time was had by all.

After enjoying fine dining, raised glasses and lively conversation, it was time for each class to show off their talents. The advanced class started off with a traditional German song and added a rendition in German of an Elvis (Presley) hit. Next the intermediate class performed a skit in English and German, emphasizing the need to learn German if you plan to travel in Europe. Last, but not least, the beginners sang “Du du liegst mir im Herzen, a very old German folk song. Sore hands were noted after so many talented performances.

The annual “pot luck” on June 17th   ended the class year, although the group will continue to meet every other Thursday at 6:00 pmin the Bierstube for dinner. There were some interesting presentations regarding travels and experiences, primarily in Germany and Switzerland. Some students will continue “Deutsch lernen” during the break, by attending the immersion group over the summer giving thema head start in September.

Auf Wiedersehen………
